Red Squirrels on the Isle of Wight is aimed at those who are interested in squirrels and would like to gain a better understanding of their life and the problems they face. Grey squirrels are included in the book as their introduction to Britain has had such a devastating effect on our native red squirrels.
Most of the artwork and diagrams were done by the author who is a keen photographer and artist. The facts are easy to find and the pictures clarify the text.
This book will appeal to most age groups and levels of understanding but most of all will gain even more support for our own endangered native woodland mammal – the red squirrel. Here is an opportunity to contrast the two species and understand how the American grey squirrel has replaced our native reds.
