Narrated by Shaw Taylor, this film gives a fascinating account of the life and trials of red squirrels. Fifty years ago they were still abundant in Great Britain, but are now a rare sight. This film was made on the Isle of Wight, an important stronghold for red squirrels as the Solent provides a barrier against grey squirrel invasion. The grey squirrel footage was shot in Bournemouth. Red squirrels are very appealing and the exceptional photography in this film shows them at their most beautiful. Facts are given in straightforward, easily understood narrative – but the pictures speak for themselves. Running time approximately 44 minutes. Produced by Helen Butler.
