Out of Time (Volume Two): A Collection of Colour Photographs from the 1960s to the 1980s.
Being knocked about has always been an occupational hazard for Newport. It has found itself on the wrong end of the wrecker’s ball many times. By the early 1970’s when most of the photos for this book were taken, a great number of historic buildings had already gone, many demolished by the Victorians. To make matters worse, buildings that escaped the Victorian purges then fell victim to 20th century councils and developers. These photographs show just how much Newport and Cowes were changed in the 1970s – and not always for the better.
